Another question those of us at Engage Small hear often is, “I know that I am a freelancer — but am I also a small business owner?” It’s usually then followed with, “I’m just managing myself and I do all the work!”
Well, we’re here to tell you:
If you’re a freelancer, you own a small business.
Congratulations! Being a small business owner is no small feat, and we’re here to celebrate you and your accomplishments.
Still not so sure? Think about it. You manage operations, sales prospects, individual projects, accounting and human resources – because we all know our own selves can be the hardest to manage! All of that goes into a successful business and you are doing all it yourself.
While there are some potential differences between being a freelancer and a small business owner, they both are responsible for running their own business operations – no matter the scale. And after all, no business is too small to be considered a small business.
So remember: whether what you call yourself — self-employed, a freelancer, an entrepreneur, a solopreneur and/or a small business owner — we’re here for you and your business.
